Please remember to send a water bottle to school with your child(ren). Due to COVID we do not have traditional drinking fountains. We just have water bottle filling stations. If you don't have a water bottle, we will give them one. It is important for students to stay hydrated.

South Holt R-1 School begins classes on Monday, August 24th. This day is a regularly scheduled 1:00pm dismissal. Please plan accordingly. Also, Tuesday, August 25th is a regularly scheduled 1:00pm dismissal.

Dear South Holt Students, Parents, Staff and Patrons,
In preparation for an Oregon City Ordinance requiring face coverings, South Holt R-1 School’s Re-opening Plan will have a modification for the first day of school. Anticipating the ordinance going into effect Tuesday, August 25 th , the school district finds it beneficial to start the
requirements on Monday for consistency and accuracy.
The face coverings ordinance will ask the school to implement safety protocols designed to
mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The ordinance will have these requirements for the school:
Only students in grade 5-12 will be included in the ordinance,
teachers will wear masks or shields in accordance with the requirements for students,
the ordinance will include bus travel and while in the building,
students will be required to wear their mask when they cannot social distance or if we cannot have class separation,
students will not be required to wear masks at PE, Band, Lunch, Music or Recess,
students will not be required to wear their masks in the classroom sitting at their desks,
Students who have fall into the CDC guidance for those who should not wear face coverings due to a medical condition, mental health condition, developmental disability or are otherwise covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act are exempt from the ordinance.

We will begin this the first day of school Monday.

Fall pictures will occur on Monday, August 31st. This will include Staff, K-12 students, as well as the following sports: High School Volleyball, High School Softball, Junior High Volleyball, and High School Cross Country. Forms will be available during the first week of school.
South Holt High School plans to hold Senior Night for our Volleyball and Softball girls on Tuesday, September 8th. Football, Cheer, and Cross Country will hold their Senior Night on Friday, September 11th.
South Holt will have Open House on Friday, August 21st from 5:00-6:00. In order to allow for social distancing that evening we are asking families whose last name begins with an A-L to come to the school from 5:00-5:30. Families whose last name starts with M-Z should come from 5:30-6:00. If these times can't work, please come when you can and we will make it work. We look forward to seeing everyone on Friday.
Good evening South Holt Families. JH/HS registration will occur tomorrow, Monday, August 17th and Tuesday, August 18th. Please plan to attend during your scheduled grade level time slot. In the event you are unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts, quarantine, or concerns about your overall health, please email andersonm@southholtr1.com or olberdingh@southholtr1.com to scheduled an online registration.
South Holt JH and HS Registration Schedule. Monday, August 17th - Seniors 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM. Juniors 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Sophomores 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. Tuesday, August 18th - Freshmen 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM. 8th Graders 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM. 7th Graders 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. In order to prevent long lines and long wait times, please plan to attend at the posted times. Families with multiple students in JH/HS, can attend during 1 session in order to prevent multiple trips to the school. Students new to the South Holt R1 School district will need to provide proof of residence and shot records. Social distancing will be required during our registrations, please keep 6 feet spacing between family groups and avoid the formation of long wait lines. All handbooks will be online, and signature pages will be available for handing out and collecting. Locker assignments have been predetermined in order to help speed up the process of registration. South Holt Junior High athletics will kick off on Monday, August 17th. Junior High Volleyball will be with Ms. Lynn from 10:00 am - 12:00. JH Football will practice at Graham from 3:00 - 4:30. The bus will leave SH at 2:30.
South Holt will conduct impact screening for all students-athletes in 7th, 9th, and 11th grade on Friday, August 14th in the school library and computer lab. Please arrive a few minutes before the listed times. Juniors 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, Freshmen and any new student to South Holt 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, and all incoming 7th graders interested in participating in sports this year from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm.
