South Holt Junior High sports practices begin on Monday, August 15th. Practice times are as follows: JH Volleyball 11:00am-12:30pm in main gym and JH Football 2:30pm-4:00pm on practice field. A completed sports physical is needed to practice. For the first time, 6th graders can compete in JH sports. Info was shared with 6th graders in May. Elementary PTO will meet at 6:30 tonight in the library to discuss membership for the upcoming year. All are welcome. Bring ideas for increasing membership.
Those students interested in South Holt JH football can pick up their helmet on Friday, August 12th at 10:00am-11:30am. First practice is on August 15th at 2:30pm-4:00pm. Players must have their sports physicals on file to practice. Please bring tennis shoes, football cleats, and water bottles to practice. Also bring inhalers for those athletes that have that medical documentation.

This drop-in event will allow students to verify their pre-registration schedule, sign forms, and be assigned a locker. Registration will happen in the counselor’s room in the main hallway of South Holt conducted by Mrs. Martin and Mr. Quinlin.

The South Holt R-I School District is accepting applications for an Elementary/Special Education Paraprofessional for the 2022-2023 school year. Candidates must have a high school diploma. Sixty college credit hours are preferred, but not required. Paraprofessionals may be asked to take the Paraprofessional or ParaPro Assessment (MEGA). Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and completed support staff application electronically to Kristen Mendenhall at mendenhallk@southholtr1.com. Hard copy applications may be mailed to South Holt R-I Elementary, Kristen Mendenhall, 201 S. Barbour Street, Oregon, MO 64473. The South Holt community and other friends and family of Alex Harris are invited to a candlelight memorial at the South Holt Football Field tonight (Sunday, July 24th) at 9:00 PM. Reverend Jim Kelly will be officiating the service.
South Holt will have counselors and clergy available to the South Holt community (students, parents, staff, etc) tomorrow, Monday, July 25th from 10:00 am til 4:00 pm at the school. These services are free and confidential to anyone wanting to use them. Further dates and times will be established as needed. The South Holt football field and track will be closed starting today and will remained closed until Tuesday, July 26th for construction purposes. No one should use or be on the football field or track during these dates, July 20-26th. Thank you for you assistance.
South Holt students are hosting a blood drive Wednesday the 27th from 2-6pm at TJ Hall. The blood donated stays in our community and the more donors we have, the more scholarships we can offer to our students in the coming year through the Community Blood Center. Sign up for an appointment here!
